We are very sad to report that following the successful hatching of eight cygnets in May of this year, a few weeks later we arrived one morning to find only four cygnets remaining. It is thought that the unlucky four were taken by a fox during the night. Despite our best efforts to persuade the swans to next on the floating rafts on the pool they have rejected our preferred nesting spot in favour of a nest in the reeds. The cob swan is protecting his young fiercely so please take care when driving along Swanpool Road and be patient if the swan is in the road, he will attempt to attack cars he feels are a threat. We recommend driving very slowly.
