Sustainability...

At Swanpool Beach Cafe we strive to be environmentally conscientious and sensitive. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our eco credentials and reduce the impact our business has on the environment. By working with local suppliers and service providers we're changing our business for the better.

Packaging

All of our food packaging is eco friendly and biodegradable, from cardboard soup containers to brown paper bags for baguettes. Being on the seafront we often see the evidence of the build up of plastic waste in the sea, so wherever we can we ensure our food packaging is low impact and easily broken down.

Cleaning Products

Our cleaning products are manufactured from vegetable derived surfactants which have a lower impact on the environment. We always use refills where possible and recycle our empty containers.

Recycling

All of our cardboard and plastics are collected and recycled excluding our large grey ice-cream tubs. These are saved and given to anyone who may have a use for them, so far they have gone to be used for craft groups, gardeners as salad growing containers and seed packet holders and as Lego holders. These are really for anyone, so if you need some containers just pop down and see us!!

Local Produce

One of the things we are proud of is local produce. In the southwest we have fantastic producers of fruit, vegetables, dairy and meats, so whenever we can we use local. We also try to use only seasonal ingredients in our homemade soups to keep our carbon footprint down and the quality up. Below is a list of our local suppliers.

THE GRANARY
We get all our ice cream from Callestick and it provides the base for all our 'quirky ice creams'
Roddas provide us with thier clotted cream for our ice creams and they also provide mature cheddar and Cornish brie for our ciabattas.
The milkman. Also provides eggs, butter and goats cheese.
Newquay Fruit Sales provide us with all our fresh salad and vegetables for our homemade soups.
Vealls provides us with ciabattas and baguettes as well as ham, bacon and sausages.
